1. In the first one, I think it looks like I have a pillow stuffed under my cami. Or in the words of another voxer, 1000 comedians, "like I had one too many cheeseburgers."
2. The second one is a back shot, notice the hourglass figure that I still hold. Yea, let's see how long that last...sigh.
3. The third one is with face, Pablo wanted to ensure a smile, so he asked "who's pregnant?"
4. Finally, we have the hand on the belly in a futile attempt to disguise the bulge.
It was disheartening to visit X17 Online and see pics of a "very pregnant Nicole Richie" who looks like I do right now. I am only weeks into my pregnancy and she is MONTHS into hers. Granted I never started off anorexic but the spectrum shouldn't be so wide. It seems strange that gummi bear is only the size of a kumquat but my belly is already taking on a new form. Going along with the citrus analogies, I have also learned that my uterus is now the size of a grapefruit. I have to wonder it also weighs as much as a grapefruit because that amount of pressure explains my frequent urination.
I am taking measures to gain weight responsibly. I hadn't exercised because of the delicate nature of my pregnancy in the beginning. I am feeling more confident about the stability of my pregnancy so I began to exercise today. Pablo and I went for 1.0 mi walk to the bank. It was great, the sun was out, the sky was clear and there was a soft wind to keep me cool. I have to get back to the gym for the more rigorous routines but I will pace myself. I think I will start with jogging/running first, some prenatal yoga and see where it goes. I also need to use my resources in the apartment such as the Step and the medicine ball.
Thursday, marked 10 weeks exactly and I know belly pictures are due. I haven’t been obsessed with belly pics and made a commitment to taking shots every 10 weeks. 10 weeks is like a milestone to me. There are significant changes to report physically in me, developmentally in the baby, and the time line is divided into 4 parts.
There is a website called
Babycenter that has a feature called “My Baby This Week”. It tells you how the baby changes each
week. Here are some highlights from
Babycenter
“Your baby is no longer an embryo! Though she's barely the size of a kumquat — just an inch or so long — and weighs less than a quarter of an ounce, she's completed the most critical portion of her development. Now is the beginning of the fetal period, when her tissues and vital organs mature rapidly. Her liver, kidney, intestines, brain, and lungs are in place and starting to function, and they'll continue to develop throughout your pregnancy. During the next three weeks, your baby's length will more than double to nearly 3 inches.”
The worst sickness overcame me
earlier this week: I ate a whole deli sandwich!
That would have been normal if I wasn’t pregnant with slow
digestion. I called the midwife and asked
what meds I could take to alleviate the discomfort. Luckily, I didn’t need reach that point, I am
taking that as an indicator of my pain threshold. I wasn’t avoiding the Imodium or Mylanta
because of stubbornness, I just wanted to make sure it was ‘really’ necessary.
My work situation has improved. My school has experienced a growth in its leadership roles. In one summer, the school went from a duet to a quad, from a school with fractured leadership to a scenario that was micromanaging the teachers. We have worked to coordinate our communication better and ease the flow of information to the teachers.
